We are a group of volunteers who have a wide range of backgrounds and interests. As governors we have one thing in common and that is our passion and drive to support all the children at St James to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. We take this responsibility very seriously and are committed to working with the head teacher, staff and community to make an active difference.
Our role is to support and challenge the head teacher and her team in providing the best possible education and learning environment at St James. To do this we hold a series of meetings which are split into two committees; Resources (budget, the building and staffing issues) and Standards and Performance (achievements and progress of children and the curriculum the children are taught). Each term we hold Full Governor meetings where actions and policies are agreed. Governors also visit the school at different times to talk and work with staff and children and see the school at work and play!
Within the body of governors we have different roles and responsibilities that utilise our individual strengths. We have parent representatives on the governing body and we will let all parents know if a vacancy arises.
If you would like to discuss any ideas or concerns please make contact at the office and a Governor will be in touch with you!
St James Infant School Governing Body Composition
All governors complete a register of interests on an annual basis - currently there are no items on the register to report regarding pecuniary, financial or any other interests. One governor has registered a business interest (see documents below).
