Wellbeing & Family Support
At St James Infant & Pre-School, our Family Support Worker, Mrs Caygill, is a familiar, friendly face who helps children and families feel safe, supported and included. She is a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and is Solihull Approach trained, supporting our nurturing approach to understanding children’s emotions, behaviour and relationships.
Mrs Caygill leads one-to-one support, including wishes and feelings work, developing friendships and positive relationships, and helping children recognise, express and manage their emotions. Most children include her in their ‘hand of trust’—the trusted adults they know they can turn to for help. She also works as a lunchtime supervisor, giving children a familiar adult to talk to and seek support from throughout lunchtime.
Alongside her work with children, Mrs Caygill leads parenting support, offering a listening ear and practical, non-judgemental guidance with eating difficulties, routines, behaviour at home, attendance and changes in family life. She can help families access financial advice, food banks and other services, and signpost to specialist agencies where needed.
Her strong links with Daventry Family Hub help connect families with wider local support. Mrs Caygill is on the school gate in the morning and afternoon, so please say hello or arrange a time for a more private conversation. You can also email her at Jade.caygill@sjis.inmat.org.uk.
No concern is too small—we encourage families to reach out early so we can work together.
